Within a span of a few days, the Consumer Ombudsman has received several complaints from consumers who received packages with face masks from BeautyShop International, which they do not believe they ordered. At the same time, the consumers were threatened with collection fees by a company called ABC Collect LLC, should they fail to pay for the product.
Many consumers have also experienced the same thing in Sweden.
The Consumer Ombudsman recommends that consumers should not pay if they believe they did not order anything.
ABC Collect LLC has a post-box address in Aalborg, and the packages that the consumers receive contain beauty products such as face masks.
The Consumer Ombudsman, Christina Toftegaard Nielsen, says:
“If you do not believe you ordered a product, then do not pay for it. Instead, contact the company or the debt-collection agency and inform them that you did not order a product and you will not pay.”
This is what you should do if you receive a package that you did not order:
- In writing, indicate the product that you received, that you did not order the product and that the company can come pick up the package at your residence within a period of three months.
- Also include the invoice number from the invoice.
- Save the email from the company, as it can be used as documentation should problems arise later.
