Travel with low-fare airlines

It may be worth to compare prices with different airlines before making a decision. The differences can be quite significant. The liberalisation of the airline market in Europe has resulted in a fall in prices, and a large variety of low-fair airline tickets have become available to consumers.

However, you should be aware that there are certain limitations connected with purchasing low-fare tickets. The possibility to change your reservation without a fee is very limited, if available at all. Sometimes you can change a ticket for a fee.

Prior to purchase

  • Read the terms and conditions of the airline to determine whether you can change or cancel the ticket before you conclude the agreement.
  • Read the terms and conditions of the contract carefully. If you book over the Internet, print out the booking confirmation and save it.
  • If you book with a travel agent, you can purchase cancellation insurance that provides coverage in case you need to cancel your trip due to acute illness. But it is possible that your travel insurance or contents insurance already provide coverage. So it is a good idea to check the terms and conditions of your insurance policies before you order.
