The network comprises a European Consumer Centre in every EU country as well as in Norway and Iceland, 29 countries in all. Our goal is for you to feel safe when you shop, regardless of whether you shop in Denmark or in another EU country.
In most cases we can help immediately. In other cases, we will make inquiries first in collaboration with our European sister offices, to determine your options. Our advice is free, and we will help you for the duration of your case.
ECC Denmark was established on 1 January 2005 and is financed by the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority and the EU Commission.
When you make purchases on the Internet, when you travel or when you shop within the
EU, European Consumer Centre Denmark (ECC Denmark) can give you good advice before purchasing products or services, inform you of your rights and duties as a consumer and help you lodge a complaint if you have problems.
What can we do?
When you make purchases on the Internet, when you travel or when you shop within the EU, European Consumer Centre Denmark (ECC Denmark) can give you good advice before purchasing products or services, inform you of your rights and duties as a consumer and help you lodge a complaint if you have problems.
However, we cannot make a ruling on your case, nor can we enforce your claim, as neither we nor our sister offices function as a dispute resolution body or are part of the judicial system. We can therefore only further your complaint if the business concerned is prepared to cooperate and/or there is an appropriate dispute resolution body. Otherwise we are unfortunately unable to help.
Contact point under the Act on Services in the Internal Market and the E Commerce Act
European Consumer Centre Denmark has been designated a contact point under the Danish Act on Services in the Internal Market. That means that consumers can contact us with questions about what requirements apply to suppliers in other EU countries when they sell services to consumers. Examples of such services could include carpentry, joinery, and plumbing work, or advice from professionals such as lawyers or estate agents. We can also help by finding out what possibilities for making complaints exist in the supplier’s country.
Finally, European Consumer Centre Denmark also functions as a contact point under the Danish E Commerce Act, which means that we give general advice to businesses on selling goods over the internet to other EU countries, and can indicate relevant organisations and authorities that can give further information and practical assistance.
You can see a list of approved out-of-court dispute resolution bodies in the EU on the Commission’s website.
