You must be able to produce the guarantee certificate or otherwise render it likely that you have obtained a guarantee on the product.
The contents of the guarantee decide whether you are, for example, entitled to have the product replaced, repaired or something else.
Can you transfer a guarantee to another person?
Your right to transfer a guarantee to another person will depend on whether the guarantee has been issued to you personally or whether it accompanies the goods.
A product guarantee is always transferable as the transfer will not cause the issuer of the guarantee to suffer a loss or an increased risk. It is more doubtful whether a personal guarantee is always transferable. This may depend on the wording of the guarantee and the terms and conditions generally. You are always welcome to contact the European Consumer Centre if you are in doubt.
What applies if there is no guarantee accompanying the goods?
Even though no guarantee has been issued you still have your statutory right of complaint, which means that you can always file a complaint with the seller within two years after delivery of the goods if there is a defect in the goods.
