How can the European Consumer Centre help you?
If you need to have the contents of your guarantee assessed; if you cannot get into contact or dialogue with the issuer of the guarantee; or if a Danish importer/dealer rejects your foreign guarantee you can always contact the European Consumer Centre. We will try to help you or contact one of our sister offices with a view to examining potential complaint possibilities in the country in which the complaint is to be dealt with.
Good advice on guarantees
Five pieces of good advice on guarantee.
- Check before you buy whether there is a guarantee on the goods, how long it runs, and what it comprises.
- Check whether it is a real guarantee or whether the seller only refers to the statutory right of complaint.
- Check whether the guarantee can be used in Denmark.
- Always obtain a guarantee in writing – do not trust the seller’s oral promises.
- Retain the guarantee certificate.
